To manage the production of syndicate and statutory accounts, returns to  Lloyd’s and other regulatory organisations

Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities:

• To manage the production of all regulatory returns, syndicate and statutory accounts  to ensure accuracy and completeness.
• To regularly review the Syndicate balance sheet and to advise the Syndicate Finance team of adjustments that are required.
• To establish and maintain contacts within regulatory organisations in order to resolve queries swiftly and accurately.
• To liaise with external auditors and actuaries, providing appropriate information as required.
• To liaise with the Lloyd’s Compliance Office and keep up to date with Lloyd’s regulations and bulletins and incorporate changes as required.
• To prepare all necessary Lloyd’s business forecasts.
• To manage the preparation of the Syndicate Report & Accounts.
• To ensure appropriate training opportunities are provided to enable the Team to have the necessary job knowledge and professional qualification.
• To complete regular performance reviews and maintain development/training plans for each Team member.

Technical Knowledge & Skills:

• Strong grasp of UK Insurance GAAP.
• Understanding of Lloyd’s syndicate accounting (desirable).
• Lloyd’s regulations, byelaws and reporting requirements (an advantage).
• Microsoft office applications – in particular advanced excel.
• Sun accounts, TM1 and Vision.
• Lloyd’s systems applications.

Qualification/Experience:

• ACA/ACCA/CIMA accountancy qualification with excellent academic credentials.
• Insurance experience a pre-requisite, especially Lloyd’s.
• Good man management and motivational skills and has a track record of managing small professional teams.

Financial Reporting Manager required by market leading City based insurance company.

Responsibilities:

• Conduct an insightful and complete review and approve internal management based financial reporting, both routine and ad hoc for complete and consistent results within corporate policies and standards
• Review and approve more complex financial activities for various lines of business including journal entries and account reconciliations
• Review external financial statements including, but not limited to GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles), SEC and STAT (Statutory Accounting Principles).
• Develop, perform and certify financial controls in accordance with Sarbanes-Oxley requirements.
• Reviews more complex documentation to support Internal and External Audits.

Professional designation (CPA, CMA or AIAF) or comparable advanced professional education preferred.

Group Tax Manager reporting to the Global Head of Finance, you will be working with other teams across finance and with outsourced service providers this role will be responsible for tax compliance for corporate tax, VAT and other indirect tax. The role will maintain transfer pricing policies and documentation and monitor developments in tax legislation to drive the group’s tax planning and tax risk management. The role will support the finance reporting team in calculating the tax provisions for key entities within the Client and work with the HR team on employment tax issues.

Corporate Tax
o Monitor developments in corporate tax legislation and advise management on the implications for the Client.
o Develop relationships with Clients HMRC tax contacts and communicate effectively to help manage our tax risk.
o Prepare the annual UK company tax returns.
o Calculate the required tax instalments and monitor the deadlines to ensure all taxes are paid on time.
o Complete Lloyd’s tax filings and work closely with the Lloyd’s tax team to ensure Client is compliant with all the latest developments.
o Prepare tax disclosures for the group and UK/Irish subsidiary accounts.
o Maintain the required transfer pricing documentation and advise the business on transfer pricing risks.
o Oversee outsourced service providers to ensure effective tax compliance across the European offices of the Client.

VAT
o Prepare the quarterly UK VAT returns.
o Support the development of appropriate processes to ensure the effectiveness of the VAT reporting.
o Complete all the controls over the VAT reporting processes.
o Monitor developments in VAT legislation and advise on the implications to Client

Other taxes
o Support the definition of business processes to ensure other taxes are paid as required.
o Support talent management with queries as they arise in relation to employment tax working with outsourced service providers.
o Provide effective oversight of all group tax activities and monitor tax compliance in non-European locations to ensure appropriate standards are maintained.
o Support the business with tax advice and the provision of tax residence certificates.

General
o Recommend tax strategy opportunities for enhancing Clients tax efficiency and maintaining efficient compliance practices.
o Oversee and enhance the company’s tax compliance and underlying business processes to maintain appropriate controls for tax reporting.
o Prepare the annual SAO notifications and certifications.
o Support the Head of Global Finance and the Head of Global Financial Reporting on other tax requirements as required.

Education and Qualifications
o University degree in any discipline

Principle responsibilities

• To process the month end technical accounting. Bookkeeping of premiums, claims, IBNR, commissions, and reinsurance.
• To assist design, develop and build mechanisms or loading data into the general ledger, with relevant controls
• To prepare and analyse monthly technical account reconciliations (e.g. GL to core systems) for audit and SOX purposes
• To assist in the preparation of financial results for US GAAP reporting to parent company
• To use, update and modify (where required) the systems/analysis tools/spreadsheets to extract data from underwriting and financial systems for regulatory and compliance returns in accordance with the relevant regulatory timetables.
• To produce and maintain monthly audit files company financial results, balances and key reconciliations
• Assist in production of company and related entity GAAP financial results and annual report.
• To assist in ad-hoc reporting requirements & project work

 Knowledge, skills and experience

• Commercial common sense and understanding of the insurance business
• Advanced Excel / Database skills to be able to build spreadsheets and systems that can manage and manipulate large volumes of data efficiently (V Look ups, Pivot Tables)
• Ability to analyse and self- audit any data, returns, forms, including liaison with underwriting teams to verify data.
• Ability to understand the bigger picture and visualise the end-to-end process of transactions through to reporting analysis
• Good communication skills, ability to interact at all levels within the business and fellow practitioners
• Good project management, prioritisation of tasks and time keeping skills
• Some exposure or knowledge of Statutory and Regulatory reporting (PRA, SII / Solvency II, US GAAP)
• Preferably A level maths qualification and pursuing an accountancy qualification, studying ACCA or CIMA
